Morley’s Final Catalogue: In profusion on oak-trunks and palings everywhere about woods; unnoted in the west. Bentley in abundance, Parham, Letheringham, Glemham Magna, Aldeburgh, Leiston, Flixton, Fritton, Gorleston.

Recent Status: A common species in Suffolk.

Life Style: A single brooded species that can be found from April to August. The larvae feed from spun or folded leaves of deciduous Quercus. They pupate in a cocoon in the larval habitation or on the foodplant.

Identification: The species has a narrower dorsal patch than Z. griseana and a broadly arched costa. The colour is more even than the smaller Z. ratzeburgiana. Male Zeiraphera have no costal fold.
